AMP Storage & Studios' objective isn't to auction the contents of units. Unfortunately, we sometimes must take the necessary legal steps to gain possession of the property inside. We then hold an auction for the following reasons:
To attempt to regain back-due rent.
To recoup our costs for auctioning the unit's property.
To free up units so we may rent to clients who will honor our agreement.
If the winning bid is higher than the default balance, we must send the remaining funds (above what the tenant owes to AMP Storage & Studio) to the tenant.
If the auction brings in more money than what the tenant owes, and we are unable to locate the client to refund the proceeds, we must send the balance (above what's owed to AMP Storage & Studio) to the unclaimed property division of the Pennsylvania State Treasury department.
AMP Storage & Studio does not profit in any way from a storage auction. We follow the rules set forth in PA Statute 73 P.S. ยง 1901.
It's not our goal to auction units. We prefer that our tenants abide by the terms of the rental agreement they've signed.
